Ministerial Biography of Pastor John B. Smith
Senior Pastor, Rosemark Church Of God In Christ
In 2006, Pastor John B. Smith succeeded his father, Readus C.
Smith after 31 years of Pastoral Ministry. Respectfully called
“Pastor John”, he immediately began to seek God in
continuing the legacy of effective ministry through strategic
growth, discipleship, and community involvement. The Rosemark
Church began to experience immediate growth spiritually and numerically
as well as organizational development, debt elimination, asset
acquisitions, and community alignment with both corporate and
civic entities. Through his effective teaching the true essence
of discipleship and evangelism is continuing to be manifested.
The Spiritual Giftings to the Body of Christ through Pastor John
has allowed the Rosemark Church to excel in community outreach
providing job opportunities, college internships through corporate
sponsors, educational scholarships, financial literacy, marriage
enrichment, senior support, and other effective programs &
initiatives that meet the needs of holistic and nurtured fellowship.
He has also been favored to serve in various District, Jurisdictional,
and National offices as he renders excellence in Service to the
Lord’s Church. He’s currently Administrative Assistant,
TN Central Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction and serves as Deputy Adjutant
General, National Adjutancy, Church of God in Christ, Inc.
Pastor John is a native Memphian and a graduate of LeMoyne-Owen
College with a B.A. in Political Science. He is also a M.Div.
candidate at the Asbury Theological Seminary. He is the husband
of Carol A. Smith and the father of 2 children, Lauren LeeAnn
and John Brandon II. Pastor John is also the Founder/CEO of Community
Builders, Inc., a non-profit organization designed to advocate
and resolve common deficiencies in the areas of education, finance,
and advocacy for senior citizens in the Northeast Shelby County
area. His civic services include: Commissioner, Memphis/Shelby
County Community Redevelopment Agency; Board of Directors, Millington
Crisis Center; Steering Committee, Leadership Millington; and
Chairman, Shelby County Housing Authority; and Board of Directors,
Metropolitan Inter-Faith Association (MIFA).
